New copper and zinc plates with magnets

Do we need to tap on magnets to get an effect?

This video shows that not only a magnetic flux is generated by tapping on the magnet, it also goes through the copper plate.

Does a magnetic field go through the copper plate?

Yes. This video shows that the copper plate, when attached to the skin will have a North magnet on it. It also demonstrates that the magnetic field goes through the copper plate.
